Community Event

Freedom Fest possible with volunteer support & sponsor donations

Pine City enjoyed some beautiful weather as the community came together and celebrated “Freedom Fest” week from June 26th – June 30th with 5 days of fun-filled activities. We don’t pack in the tourists, and we don’t make a lot of money, but we do have a lot of fun and we have a lot of amazing volunteers that come together to make the events in Pine City that week something our community can be proud of. The event is about celebrating Pine City – the people, the places, the organizations – and celebrating the men and women that fought and served this country to that we could enjoy the freedom we have.

For the Saturday activities this year it was wonderful to welcome the VFW Auxiliary & VFW Post 4258 with games during the kids activities; the American Legion Auxiliary hosting Bingo in the afternoon for families; and the newly reformed Beyond the Yellow Ribbon committee for Pine City. All of these organizations provided an activity for the day and we are grateful to their volunteers for the extra efforts in serving Pine City.

There are so many wonderful volunteers to thank, but I want to extend a couple of special thank you’s…. Kevin Hinze with the Pine County Fair Board works hard to manage the grounds and use of the Event Center and truly goes above and beyond to create a welcoming space; the Chamber Members (and their family and friends) that volunteered to serve for the Chamber Beer Stand throughout the day – the place was always in good hands; and the Chamber Team that worked to organize the many events throughout the day (Corey, Julie, Kim, Bonnie and Carissa) — you are the foundation to this great community event!
