The Pine City Heritage Players has a long history of providing quality theater in Pine City, but producing a full-scale musical, drama or comedy more than just a few times each year can be tough.  A few years ago the Heritage Players group came together for a night of just songs…. selections from their favorite Broadway hits and the event was a sell-out.  More importantly it was a lot of fun to put together.  “We have talented singers in the region that enjoy sharing their talents, but can’t always commit the time for a 6-8 week rehearsal schedule for the full scale productions.  The ‘Songs of the Stage’ series gives them a great outlet to perform, but also to give back to their community,” said co-coordinator Cassandra Olson.  The funds raised through this event will be going to the Harvey Lindstrom Memorial Scholarship Fund.  The fund was created as a way to encourage young actors, singers, dancers and other performance artists to seek out enrichment programs and opportunities to better develop their crafts.

The next Songs of the Stage event on Saturday, December 1st begins at 7:30 PM at the Pine City American Legion.  The not-to-be-missed emcee team of Mary Ellen Sauser and Elisa Mill will kick of an evening with a variety of vocalists including: Scott Tolzmann, Becci Palmblade, Jennifer Simonson, Laura Michels, Cassandra Olson, Jennifer Hansmann, Rachel Bigelow, Paula Schluck, and Kyle Hansen.  With special guest Jay Schueller & Friends.   Tickets are on sale now at More Than Sprouts, Cabin Coffee’s and Three Twenty Brewing Co.  Advance tickets for adults are $10, kids are $8.  Ticket prices at the door will be $15 for adults and $10 for kids.
