Discover Our Community

Pine City has all the benefits of a major city, with the safety and comfort of a small town. We are conveniently located just an hour drive north of Minneapolis-St. Paul with easy access on Interstate 35, as well as being just over an hour drive south of the Duluth-Superior area. This places us in a central point in which to discover all of East Central Minnesota.

We have many unique opportunities for visitors to enjoy here in Pine City. A state historical site, the Snake River Fur Post is a popular destination for people to learn about the fur trading industry from the early 1800’s. We also have a Rural School Museum that once served as the one-room school house for the community.

In recent years Pine City has become a popular destination to enjoy a variety of art opportunities. There are three vibrant, arts-focused organizations providing quality programming throughout the year in all aspects of the arts – visual arts, music, performing arts, classes and more! You can learn more about each organization and many others in the latest edition of the Pine County Visitor Guide published by the Pine City Pioneer annually with events and tourism information.

Art in the Park is a summer series of live music events, held on Friday nights in Robinson Park. Art Fest brings over 40 regional artists to Pine City for a one-day vendor event with live music, food and fun! Make it a memorable weekend in Pine City and stay for the Heritage Players summer musical.

Winery visits and brewery stops are becoming a popular activity for all generations. The East Central Beverage Trail provides a local passport of destinations within a 45 mile drive of Pine City with several locations centered around Pine City.

Three Twenty Brewing Co. is located Downtown with easy access for travelers. A variety of special events are held throughout the year along with food trucks traveling in from around the region on weekends. Boondoggle Winery and Northern Hollow Winery are located just outside of town to the east and west respectively. Each location offers a fun and friendly atmosphere for their guests, along with some award winning wines. Each year in August, Northern Hollow Winery also hosts a weekend Arts Fest that highlights local artists goods. Sapsucker Farms, located in nearby Mora, offers an eclectic schedule of music, art classes, and food trucks each weekend at their certified organic farm where they produce the Yellow Belly brand hard ciders.

Downtown Pine City is near the Snake River as it stretches between the two lakes in our area. Cross Lake and Pokegama Lake offer 3,000 miles of water to explore. Thanks to the work of local lake associations, you can travel by boat between both lakes along the Snake River and enjoy a day of fishing, tubing or skiing.
